Write Your City Government!

City governments are primarily the ones responsible for keeping parks green and safe but residents may also lend a hand in keeping it that way. After all, the residents are those who will be in the parks everyday. As such, they will be the first to know how the park is doing. Should anything needs to be fixed, they’ll be ones to first notice that. Should the grass start looking parched, then they’ll also be the first to assume that the park is not being taken care of. A sense of ownership for a park will go a long way in ensuring that it is kept green and safe to play in because that means there will always be people who will care enough to keep it that way.

If your area does not have a park anywhere near, you can gather some of your neighbors to see if anyone else is interested in petitioning for a park. It might take a while for your petition to be granted or even simply addressed but at least you took that all-important first step towards creating a safer environment for your family. It’s easy to assume, after all, that no one cares if they have a park or not because no one is asking for one, neither for themselves or for your children.

Parks Must be Green and Safe, Too!

Unfortunately, not all parks are made the same. Aside from being green, you need parks to be safe for kids to play in to encourage more people to troop to the parks for their benefit. After all, parks only work if people actually use it. What point is the point of having a park if no one’s there to benefit of all that green, right? As such, parks must also be created in such a way that they are inviting. And what constitutes inviting? For a lot of parents to bring in their kids to park, safety is major issue that needs to be addressed. Are there people smoking in the park at all times? If a park has been deemed to be safe to play in, then parents will have no qualms bringing their children in. And for their children to have other children to play with, parents will invite other parents to bring in their children as well.

Bringing Our Cities Back To Their Green Roots

But what living in the city takes away from a lot of people is how it feels like to be surrounded by greenstrees, grass, flowers, you name it. You’re surrounded by concrete and real estate developments in the city and whatever green you see is generally there to somewhat accessorize an area. More than just being pleasing to the eyes, a lot of green is good for you because it means fresh air and clean water, two things that are important for life to survive. Water, above all, is important to have in abundance as kayaking season is about to come underway and it’s just about time to check out the different fishing kayaks that are available to see if any strike your fancy!

It is not enough then to get just some green but to get as much green as you can. As more and more people realize this, the demand for parks and playgrounds grow. You’ll find plenty of kids playing with their toys: kickballs for boys and purity rings for girls. It’s a good thing that city governments realize the need for green spaces as well so parks and playgrounds are being set up all around.

The Effect of Public Parks on a Big City

If you’ve ever played SimCity, you’ll know how much people in the city clamor for parks and playgrounds and whatever little bit of green you can place in a city, not just an overwhelming number of businesses. In fact, there’s no satisfying the civic minded folks in your city for no matter how many parks you put, they will still want more. And they have good reason too, really. Living in the city is great, with its tall buildings and giant department stores where you can pretty much get anything. If you live in a condominium unit towering over the city, you pretty much like you’re living on top of the world.
